It’s a girl and four boys! Big congratulations to The Jackson Zoo on the birth of critically endangered Red wolves (Canis rufus) on April 27th. Not only are the pups incredibly cute, they’re also a valuable contribution to the recovery of their rare species.

Did you know that the common color for wolves’ coats on the Central Plains used to be white before settlers arrived?  Reports from the Lewis and Clark expedition said there were large numbers of white coated wolves.

Why should we have a wolf hunt in Wisconsin?  Who the heck knows but apparently there will be one…. The current wolf population in Wisconsin is estimated at around 800 wolves in 204 packs. (There should be more!)
